Nenu Sailaja Audio Review

Movie: Nenu Sailaja ( నేను శైలజ )
Producer(s):PV Ravikishore ( Sri Sravanti Movies Banner)
Cast: Ram Pothineni, Keerthi SureshStory/Direction: Kishore Tirumala

Music: Devi Sri Prasad

After getting success with Pandaga chesko, and failing at box office with Shivam, Ram is coming with his latest offering Nenu Sailaja, where Sailaja is played by Keerthi Suresh, who is a child artist turned to female lead. She is going to be lot busy in 2016 even though she has handful of movies released. Ram is working with Kishore Tirumala, who created lot of buzz when the teaser got released with dialog said by female lead "I love you, but I am not in love with you." Ram plays a DJ role in this movie. The director himself writes the story. This is his first movie in Telugu but he has a movie in Tamil which didn't fare well. DSP scores music for this album, who after Kumari 21F is pretty high. This album offers 6 songs, off which one is a bit song so that takes to 5 full songs. Sirivennela, Sagar, RJS and chandrabose wrote the songs where as DSP has his standard singers to sing the songs. Lets see what did DSP do after Kumari 21F.

1. Night is still young
Lyrics: Sagar
Singer(s): David Simon

Ram plays a DJ role in this movie, so DSP composes a perfect youthful song with perfect mix of the instruments and background music. David Simon doesn't sound odd whenever he deviates from the flow of the song. A perfect song for clubs, parties and dance bars. The tune is catchy, with words fitting the tune. After DSP, I guess its his brother's turn to write the song. If he is the same Sagar. Probably both brothers are carrying over the legacy of their father one or the other way which is good to know. What makes this song different is the perfect blend of singing, tune, and instruments. Its stylish, energetic, pacy, and non-stop at at times makes one go for it on the dance floor while night is still young.

2. Crazy Feeling
Lyrics: Ramajogayya Sastry
Singer(s): Prudhvi Chandra

Craziness is for sure a feeling. What is the reason one to have that feeling is obvious, but is explained in this song with a line up of examples. RJS is for sure a multi lingual lyricists who rarely writes in Telugu, uses all latest examples to define the crazy feeling about love. DSP seems to have inspired, adapted an yesteryear song in interludes, and there after he took it off on his own. RJS captures all the feelings of youth when one is in love. DSP scores a song that will click well in youth. This song will for sure leave a crazy feeling in them.

3. Masti Masti
Lyrics: Anantha Sriram
Singer(s): Sooraj Santhosh, Swetha Mohan

Sooraj sounded like Sagar at few places. Even though not listed in credits, may be its Sagar who accompanied Sooraj as chorus and dominated the sound. Swetha Mohan was fine as long as she was going at normal pitch. She didn't sound right when she changes the pitch. DSP reminds few songs in the starting and during interludes. However he intelligently brought in variations to the song with interludes and the chorus to make it different. Ananth Sriram is not seen quite often he used to be see earlier. Not sure why. This song is yet another decent song in this album.

4. Sailaja Sailaja
Lyrics: Bhaskara Bhatla
Singer(s): Sagar

Starting of the song is very good that sets the mood and backdrop of the song. Sagar should have said the word Sailaja/Mohabbat a little better. He doesn't sound comfortable the way he said it. Interlude is perfect. Bhaskar Bhatla comes up with the list of what doesn't change to ask why Sailaja has changed. Again DSP reminds an yesteryear song during second interlude for a moment. However that doesn't have to do anything with the stanzas. Having said that this song is an instant winner for its variety and the fun it has in terms of lyrics.

5. Em Cheppanu
Lyrics: Sirivennela Seetarama Sastry
Singer(s): Karthik

Karthik, DSP, Sirivennela the song details itself is so pleasant to hear. Karthik rocks this song. DSP scores yet another beautiful song. Karthik and Sirivennela takes this song to next level. The lyrics, singing, instruments, orchestration gel so well that this makes a perfect song. The words from Sirivennela flows leaving an excellent feeling. DSP could have done a better job to breakup of words so that the richness of lyrics is maintained. Even though he did decent job, he could have done a little better to make few people like me more happy. When someone is giving we ask more, its more like that than a complaint. Mainly at places like "ఎడారి కంటు వెళ్ళకుండ ఆపి వాన చెలిని". When a melody and good lyrics goes hand in hand not sure which causes other to be better. But both when work together, the output is for sure excellent. On the top, when we add a good singer then nothing can be better than this in any album. However in this song which is better its hard to decide, whether its lyrics or the tune.

6. Ee Premaki
Lyrics: Sirivennela Seetarama Sastry
Singer(s): Chitra

These days when Chitra garu sings, nothing can match it in the album even if its a short song or a bit. When Susheela garu almost stopped singing, when she sang a bit in film Duet, it was like a feast, same here with Chitra garu singing this short bit. When the bit ends it gives a disappointment of ending so soon. Movie makers could have atleast made this a full song, and could have used a bit in movie, that way purpose could have been solved. Anyways until next song of Chitra garu, this should be fine for fans.

Pick(s) of the album: Entire album

DSP and Sukumar provided a hit in terms of Kumari 21F. He proved why he is where he is in the film industry. With Nannaku Premato coming again with the same combination, this movie coming in between should be a hatrick hits of DSP. Its been a while that entire album is audible without skipping the songs here and there. DSP scores perfect with this album. Not sure how much it helps to Ram, but will have to wait and see.

Nannaku Prematho Audio Review

Movie: Nannaku Premato ( నాన్నకు ప్రేమతో )
Producer(s): BVSN Prasad
Cast: Tarak, Rakul Preet Singh, Jagapati Babu, Rajendra Prasad
Direction: Sukumar

Music: Devi Sri Prasad

Tarak's 25th film in his career as an actor is taken care of by Sukumar in terms of Nannaku Premato. Tarak's hair style, Sukumar's stylish taking has created lot of buzz. Added to that Rakul Preet Singh, Rajendra prasad and Jagapathi Babu raised the expectations of the movie. Even though Tarak performance was critically acclaimed, the movie didn't get huge success at box office, so every one is eagerly waiting for this movie to be successful. Sukumar after 1 Nenokkadine's failure with Mahesh Babu too is eagerly waiting to prove his mettle.

Nannaku Premato as title suggests is family drama with some action in Sukumar style. The casting suggests the same. It was said that initially Harikrishna was approached to play Tarak's father's role but somehow it didn't materialize. The audio was dedicated to DSP's father Satyamurthy garu who recently passed away. Every one know's the relation between the father and son, how Satyamurty garu used to enjoy the success of DSP. Indeed it was a great gesture. And this related to the movie too as the audio release function shows the same.

DSP scored music and automatically DSP/Sukumar Combination which has become synonym to success. This movie offers 5 songs in which DSP played roles of singer and lyricist. Tarak himself croons a song and a bit of this was released long ago. Chandrabose gets to write 3 songs, which is not common these days. There is always a written magic in the music when DSP composes songs for Sukumar. Their frequency matches so well that the output has always been successful. Having said that lets see where did they go with this album.

1. Follow Follow
Singer(s): Tarak
Lyrics: Devi Sri Prasad

Devi Sri Prasad is slowly becoming a full time lyricists. The number is increasing day by day. His lyrics are not sounding odd as the standard lyricists are writing no different. Mainly if the lyricist is himself the composer of the song, he gets more freedom to change tune or lyrics the way he wants. The song's hero is Tarak for so refreshingly singing the song. He is better than many singers out there. His voice normally is harsh at times but in this song its so pleasant. He showed lot of comfort singing this song. The repeating letters before the word is so simply done without complicating it. Sounded a lot better. DSP surprisingly dominated with lyrics than the tune. At a point in the song, reminds a Kamal's song which is for a flash, but the song goes back to where it was. The trumpets shows the mood of the song. In the starting of the song too, Tarak sounded its a lot of fun promised in this song. This song was the small bit that was released sometime ago. Definetely this song has the trademark of DSP, Sukumar, with added flavor in terms of Tarak, this song is instant hit.

2. Naa manasu Neelo
Singer(s): Devi Sri Prasad. Sharmila
Lyrics: Bhaskara Bhatla

Listening to DSP thought why he sang this song, he for a bit sounded like his brother Sagar, but either way, not sure whether he did good justice the tune he composed. In the earlier song, the dual role worked but here I doubt it. Only the composer in him worked but the singer did not. This song was supposed to fill in the melody expected from Sukumar/DSP combo. It didn't meet their standards due to DSP's singing, but otherwise a good song for the instruments that come in between. Sharmila is limited to saying few words in between. Bhaskarabhatla tried something different but some comparisons in the song doesn't sound right. Interludes are good, but sounded odd at endings. May be DSP wanted to sound them different. Overall a decent song could have been better. It might appeal over time.

3. Dont Stop
Singer(s): Raghu Dixit
Lyrics: Chandrabose

I guess Raghu Dixit filled this song for otherwise Baba Sehgal's song. This song from the start go of the song, sounds repetitive in terms of tune. Some message oriented song for which Raghu struggles at places to sing this song. The beats provide energy but the lyrics and singing doesn't match the energy. Chandrabose talks big but his songs doesn't match his talks. This song is another proof of it. Not sure if Tarak can provide any help on screen other wise pretty ordinary song from DSP/Sukumar.

4. Love me again
Singer(s): Sooraj Santosh
Lyrics: Chandrabose

Chandrabose writes formula lyrics. Jaabilli mallee raada, suryudu mallee raadaa love me again. What all repeats are written to match the word again in Love me Again. Probably a sad song. DSP provides a simple song. Every movie DSP provides a signature tune that automatically gets synonym for that movie. Not sure whether that tune is in this song or in Naa manasu neelo. He some how doesn't take violin to the next level as he always does. Sooraj's singing is not up-to mark mainly when he brings in artificiality in the song with some fake accent. He didn't help the song This could have been a much better song if not for Sooraj's singing.

5. Love Debba
Singer(s): Deepak, Sravana Bhargavi
Lyrics: Chandrabose

After getting mixed feeling with third and fourth song, this song starts a Arabic native tune and quite racy beats. However Sravana Bhairavi and Deepak doesnt match the tune. Deepak brings the nativity with shake in his voice but it ends there. Sravana bhargavi changed the modulation initially which didn't sound good, settles down later on, but again goes back to where she started. Chandrabose doesnt deviate from his mass lyrics. Instead of ice challenge, he changes to juice challenge, tried use meter many times. Even though DSP tried to be different in the song, somehow things didn't work the way he might have wanted to click. Once again its singers fault and not much help from Chandrabose. I guess they didn't quite understand the tune DSP composed. This song too leaves a mixed feeling.

Pick(s) of the album: Follow Follow, Naa manasu Neelo

DSP and Sukumar have been raising their bar so high with each and every movie, people are not ready to accept anything less then their earlier movie. Their combo were successful in Kumari 21F, where DSP gave a beautiful melody after a long time that met their high standards. However with this movie, we cannot surely say they met their standards. Its not fault of the album, but its fault of the standards they set and expectations bar they have set. All their fans hope is that they didn't reach their peak yet and will definitely keep trying to reach their peak before going down trend. This movie lacks their wow factor or the instantly likable factor mainly due to singers.

Some how industry is missing good singers who can elevate ordinary song to great level, instead they are making good songs sound pretty ordinary or sometimes bad. There is every chance that their fans might get disappointed, but Tarak fans might not. They will embrace this album and make it hit. DSP's dedication towards his work is clearly visible when he started his work 3rd day after his greatest loss of his life shows his commitment. Hope this is a pause and he will come back again with Sukumar to meet expectations of their fans. Wish Tarak and the entire team a great success he and his fans are waiting for.

Dictator Audio Review

Movie: Dictator ( డిక్టేటర్ )
Producer(s): Eros International, Sriwaas
Cast: Nandamuri Balakrishna, Anjali, Sonali Chauhan
Direction: Sriwaas

Music: SS Thaman

Balakrishna's 99th movie is almost there. His fans might be waiting for getting this movie out of way as soon as possible and paving way for 100th film. Loukhyam and Lakshyam fame Sriwaas is directing this movie and co producing with Eros International, their first movie in Telugu. With Sonali Chauhan and Anjali casting opposite to Balakrishna. The audio release was the first movie to be held at the capital of Andhra Pradesh. Noting the 99th movie, there was a car rally held before the audio release after getting special permission from government of Andhra Pradesh. The audio officially released on 20th December 2015, but one song "Gam Gam Ganesha" was released long time ago. Gopi Mohan and Kona Venkat after series of issues with their films failing at box office, are pretty much eyeing on this movie to fare well at the box office, so that this will help them a lot. For Balayya Babu, this movie result pretty much is irrelevant as even fans are aiming for his 100th movie.

The trailers released so far received mixed responses from his fans and audience.  After Sher Thaman tried to make a point that he is trying to fix issues, but whether he continued that or whether he was back to where he was is what we need to see. Lyrics wise I guess Ramajogiah Sastry can only make justice to Thaman's tunes and the album shows the same. Only one song goes to Varikuppala, one goes to BhaskaraBhatla, rest all 4 are written by RJS. Lets see how the music fared.

01 – Gam Gam Gam Ganesha
Singer(s) : Divya Kumar
Lyrics:  Ramajogayya Sastry

This song was released way long ago before audio was released and it was instant hit. This song starts with and promises lots of energy. There is speed, energy, beats, and all what is required to be played at Ganesh Pandals. This song was indeed the mostly played song for Vinayaka Chaviti 2015. The timing of the release of the song was perfect to become so popular. Now coming to issues of this song, Heramba has become Hey Rambha, changing the meaning, Aaku Pacha the color has become aku and pacha making it two words. Nothing to be said on already popular song, but Thaman's tunes at many places didn't match the lyrics. Couldn't get what was said by chorus in between. The shouting of ha was not required. Changing voices are also not required. This is a song on Ganesha and he likes originality not artificiality. Having said all these this song is all super duper hit. Whatever the issues doesn't matter at this time. How this voice suits Balakrishna, need to seen on screen. It was said that this song was shot on thousands of Junior artists and grandiere all over its place. Wish that this song could be original as much as possible with original voices instead of artificial voice of Divya kumar. Ramajogayya lyrics are good, he excels in these types of song and the highlight is that he asks Lord Ganesha why the issue of coming every year why don't you stay with us permanently. Taking away the standard issues with Thaman, its well made song for the lyrics and energy in the song.

02 – What's Up Baby
Singer(s) : Naveen ,Malavika
Lyrics:  Ramajogayya Sastry

This song is all stylish, with unchanged template beats from Thaman. Whatsapp, Selfie, Cellphone are the latest buzz words for every movie maker. Scenes are made, lyrics are written on these words, Even though its Whats Up, it will be correlated to Whatsapp. Malavika sounded more like Geetha Madhuri. Naveen is just ok. Multilingual Ramajogiah sastry, is at his standards with all words he could find to fill the song. Balakrishna I guess wanted to be latest and catching up the latest trends of music and lyrics quite unusual for his songs, braces this stylish song like old wine in new bottle. Thaman's music doesn't offer anything other than tune revolving around Whats Up, rest all made around that. Except for the style, this song has nothing to offer.

03 – Chura Chura
Singer(s) : Sanjana ,Sri Krishna
Lyrics:  Ramajogayya Sastry

Thaman tries to offer a melody, his singing is more like sarcasm than singing. Somehow felt his singing and the song were way off like going in separate tracks. He should have given this to some polished singer. The chorus did much better job than him. SriKrishna in this song was pretty much limited. Sanjana's voice is at times like Sadana Sargam and at times Shreya. She should have tried to be more natural singing this song. The instrumentation is quite simple, the beats are simple. A good tune, but not very well made song. Mainly there is some disconnect, not a good continuity in the song to keep it haunting. This appears an amateurish composition. This should have been standing out, but the issues makes it to stay simple.

04 – Tingo Tingo
Singer(s) : Kousalya ,Geetha Madhuri ,Simha
Lyrics:  Varikuppala Yadgiri

Thaman back to his routine template dappulu. He might have done "n" times similar songs, but he doesn't feel bored. Regarding Geeta Madhuri her singing these days is not upto mark. Her voice modulation is not suiting many songs. If not for the routine beats, this song has few things to offer. Simha struggles at places to sing. Out and Out mass song in terms of lyrics. Just for difference, Varikuppala Yadagiri got chance to write this song. And he perfectly writes as required the mass song that Balayya needs. Even though it has the template dappulu and singers not contributing much to this song, this will be enjoyed by masses as it is made for them. Thaman even after 50 odd movies, not trying to get away from his branded name in social media as Same Song or Same Sound. I thought he took the feedback from Social media very well and that change was visible in "Sher" movie. But unfortunately things never change probably due to movie makers demand he is stuck in the template tiger and not able to find a way to get out of it. Since people got used to these issues, this song will be enjoyed both off and on screen.

05 – Dictator
Singer(s) : Sathyan, Solar Sai Sharan ,Naveen ,Sri Krishna
Lyrics:  Ramajogayya Sastry

This song has shades of many songs, sounds from games. Some how Thaman songs mostly sound artificial. No power, no energy pure techno sound with lack of soul. Not sure how he tries not to be different in tunes, sounds and singing formats. Lyricist might have had very tough time to fill in the words to make this song. The tune is even though has pattern, the tune itself is odd to write lyrics. No clarity in singing, background music is loud and non-stop. He programmed some tune and was made into a song. This song doesn't sound right at all.

06 – Gana Gana
Singer(s) : Sameera Bharadwaj, Deepak ,Simha
Lyrics:  Bhaskara Bhatla

Once again a routine mass song. Not sure how different can one compose songs to such situations. Balakrishna means mass songs, but doesn't mean they all have to be same. Simha's singing range is very limited, only clever music directors will know how to use him. This song he is pretty average. But we never know due to lack of competition, he might win another filmfare for this song if it becomes popular on screen.  Gana is different to Gaana. Not sure what lyricist was thinking writing this song. However he wanted to cash in based on regions and places. Nothing to say about Thaman's music in this song, nor singers nor lyricist. One pretty routine song aimed at masses, if on screen something works out this song will work other wise pretty much for audio, this can be skipped as we heard many songs like this.

Pick(s) of the album: Chura Chura, Tingo. ( Gam Gam Ganesha is already picked long time ago )

Balayya looks young and energetic even at this age. He might have wanted to be different in music and tried Thaman to match the energy he has. However things didn't work the way he wanted. Thaman's music issues shadowed the energy Balayya possesses. The music is different at places, repetitive at places, energetic at places. However that will not be enough as it goes no where with the mix that was provided. Thaman getting chance first time to work with Balayya should have focused more to give a better output. Singers are pretty ordinary and didnt help either. Simha getting major pie has nothing to offer. Geetha Madhuri needs lot of hard work. Hope movie meets fans demands and be successful.
