Nippu - Music Review

Casting:                     Ravi Teja, Deeksha Seth
Producer:                   YVS Chowdary
Director:                    Gunasekhar
Music:                        Thaman SS

Thaman is the real Businessman in recent times who is on Dookudu big time. Does this music album brings the real fire is what we have to see. Some one in Audio release said that Thaman will soon create Guinness record for music direction for maximum number of movies if he goes on the way he is doing right now. In audio release functions we hear many exaggerations like this, but the reality might be all different. He is far from reaching there, but quantity doesn't matter to be remembered only songs will make any music director to be remembered life long. I read somewhere that Thaman's songs will impact you as long as one is listening to them. Once the song is over, it is very hard. YVS chowday or Gunasekhar had their earlier films huge musical hits, whether its Okkadu or Devadas.. Whether this movie can be reach anywhere close to those albums lets see..

01.Vega Vega
Singers : Shankar Mahadevan
Lyrics: Chandrabose

Thaman attempts a breathless kind of song. Shankar Mahadevan has mastered this art. He is definitely an asset for this song. However నిప్పెవరంటే is pronounced as నిప్పవేరంటే. Cant help it. ఆషా instead of ఆశ doesn't get noticed in the speed of the song. Thaman added DJ kind of sound gimmicks in between didn't add any value to the song and didn't go well with the song flow. Not sure why none of Thaman's music doesn't appear fresh to me, reminds me many songs. Chorus in between also could have been added with some clarity(chorus says its fire burning it up???? - or something). Lyrics are decent. As song suggests this is the title song. But again I have major problem with tune and lyrics coordination. "వేగ వేగ వేసేయ్యర అడుగు" is the start of the song. But shankar sang it as "వేగ వేగ వే   సెయ్యర అడుగు". I know in the speed world not every one is interested what is the lyric, but people who love Telugu do care about it.  unless word is pronounced correctly, the song is just another sound.Any way its all Shankar Mahadevan's show. He does it with great ease and its a treat if one can ignore the above issues.

02.Nenaa Ninnu
Singers : Karthik , K.S.Chitra
Lyrics: Vanamali
Good start by Thaman. What singers can do to the song, this song will prove it. Karthik and Chitra elevate this song to a different level. A decent melody from Thaman. Interludes are cool.First time I guess in Thaman's career, he let the song go as it is. Just singers take of the job without his excess sound engineering techniques. Its very rare to get to hear Chitra now a days. Her expressions really gives a good feeling. This song remains one decent attempt in recent times for Thaman.

03.Ali Baba
Singers : Javed Ali
Lyrics: Viswa
Thaman is back on track. Thaman Baba, Thaman Baba its ok Baba. Javed Ali did exactly what is required for this song. A friendship song in Raviteja's movie mainly when title is Nippu? Viswa's lyrics has nothing to offer. This song has all fake accent all over it, which makes less listenable. If Thaman reminds happy days song chorus its not his fault.

04.Oye Pilla
Singers : Tippu , Harini
Lyrics: Rama Jhogayya Sastry

Typical Raviteja song, listening to this song we can easily imagine. However what Thaman is doing is a adaptation of tunes to make it into a new song. Tippu and Harini did their bit very well. The beats are foot tapping, Song goes on well except for lack of freshness. This song for itself is fine. Its heavy orchestration, its hard to listen few instruments. May be next time Thaman needs to concentrate on this.
05.Dooba Dooba
Singers : Thaman S
Lyrics: Bhaskarbatla
Thaman doesn't have anything to offer new in this song. He is as usual himself, Since he sings the song for himself and Its done for RaviTeja and remains with them only. Again Thaman needs to focus on how lyrics are said also, not just tune and presenting the song. His team should focus on getting things right. "తొలి తొలి ప్రేమ" appears as "తొల్లి తొలి" also చెప్పలేనే is sung as "చెపలేనే"  " శాపాలు" it is pronounced "సపాలు".

06.Dhiya Dhiya
Singers : Rahul Nambiar , Krishna Chaitanya , Geetha Madhuri , Deepu , Himabindhu , Sudha , Parnika
Lyrics: Ananth Sriram
So many singers? అంతా మహా మహా మాయ, మహత్తు నీవయ (తమన్) .. Truly as said in the song. Seems like this movie has 6 songs and 6 lyricist. Is this a new trend of equal opportunity employment? Ananth Sriram seems like focused on ప్రాస to match the tune. పట్టుకుంట కోక, పెట్టు కోవే కేక? Not sure whether tune is making lyricists difficult finding good words. Mojha, Hosanna( ali baba song) fascination is not getting away. All singers try to bring some energy to the song. This song is tailor made for this movie.

07.Slokam Nippu
Singers : Sravana Bargavi
Mahaganapatim manasa smaraami, bit in the song, How come its become slokam for Nippu? Sravana Bhargavi tried to bring in carnatic accent, but she should let have it to sing naturally as her self.

Pick(s) of the Album: Nena Ninnu, Vega Vega and Dhiya Dhiya

When some is going in a success path, whatever they do will be accepted, Once they go in failure mode, things will be magnified. Right now Thaman will be a case study for analysis in Telugu Film Industry as with just giving average( some times below average) music he is grabbing all the projects and people seems to be fine with whatever music he is giving.  The music of this movie is more than required for Ravi Teja movies. I would say it is better than his earlier movie Veera. How repetitive Thaman is, though there is no freshness in his music it doesn't appear to be a problem. His success story proves it.
